Our Sunday worship is a hybrid format: both in person in the sanctuary and via Zoom* meeting software.  (See below for more details about how to attend on line and in person services).

Upcoming Speakers and Topics

March 1: Mark Bernstein. A Standard of Grace. We live in a time where injustices and indignities are challenging our Unitarian Universalist values and beliefs. How we respond depends on the amount of grace we are willing to show toward others. Let’s explore the mystery of grace.

March 8: Marlin Barnes. Musical Connections. If the spiritual realm lies outside our conscious perceptions how can we acknowledge and make use of spirituality? Marlin will use music activities and his marimba to explore some possibilities for bridging the gap between the temporal realm and the spiritual realm.

March 15: Rev. Dr. Paul Britner. The Spirituality of Movement. Almost all religious traditions recognize the connection between movement and connecting with the transcendent. This service briefly examines some of these other traditions but then will include an interpretive demonstration of the Buddha’s Mustard Seed story performed by UUCH members.

March 22: Rev. Sharon K. Dittmar. The Signals We Give. In a time of stress how are we listening to and hearing one another? Please come to a service where we will get a chance to consider this and speak to others.

March 29: JD Stillwater. Awe as a Tool: It’s Explosive. JD will explore how awe can be manipulated for better or worse in recreation, politics, education and war.

April 5: Rev. Dr. Paul Britner. Who Do Others Say I Am? Because Jesus was a real person, no one “owns” him or his image in the same way, for example, an author may own a character in a story. This sermon compares and contrasts the Christian image of Jesus with other images from other traditions.

April 12: Rev. Sarah Movius Schurr. Coming Out of Our Shell. Life is full of changes of all kinds. But each change includes some form of loss. This includes changes we face as congregations as well as individuals.

April 19: Irene Glasse. The Threshold of Spring. Each season presents us with opportunities to begin anew: to shift perspective, initiate patterns, and cultivate deeper connections. As the Earth turns round once more to spring, explore what your own presence in the cycle of the seasons can open to you. The outward spiral of the growing season is here. What calls to you at the threshold of spring?

April 26: Rev. Dr. Susan Rak. The Way Beyond Us. Maybe it’s a sense of déjà vu, or perhaps a nagging feeling that something is on the verge of breaking in… in either case, transformation can be an unsettling experience. This morning we settle in to reflect on the human experience of change along our life’s journey.

How to Attend Our Worship

*If you have never used Zoom, check out the Zoom Basics Page.

Covid Safety Precautions: We continue to focus on being together in person again but Covid precautions change. Be alert for on-going adjustments.
  • People are asked to mask while singing hymns.
  • Except while singing, masks are now optional for fully-vaccinated and boosted people. Some fully-vaccinated people continue to mask for additional safety; others do not.
  •  If you are NOT fully-vaccinated and boosted, we ask you to mask to protect yourself and others.
  • If  a family member or you are feeling ill (cold, flu, etc.) or have been exposed to Covid, please stay home and attend via Zoom.
  • Please be thoughtful with your greetings. Many people are not ready yet for hugging and other close contacts so always ask.
  • Improved Air Quality  The new HVAC system installed in 2020 in both the Martin House and sanctuary should keep us safer as well as warmer and cooler. The new system includes an air purification system in the HVAC ductwork. According to the EPA, the combined use of filtration and germicidal UVC light is an effective means of preventing the distribution of airborne viruses in occupied spaces. Our system has a high intensity dual-light system: one light controls bacteria, viruses, and mold spores; the other oxidizes and removes  noxious  odors.  The air goes through the purification system eight times an hour.
